Merges and releases
llms.txt lists every page for an agent
| Workflow | On merge | What deploys |
|---|---|---|
trunk-curated, what a generated pipeline does by default | Records the plan, deploys nothing | A release cut from a green commit |
trunk-curated+apply-on-merge | Records the plan, then applies once a commit goes green | The newest green commit, and releases |
apply-before-merge | Records the plan, deploys nothing | An open change’s head on request, once it is approved, mergeable, up to date and green, and releases |
Cut and promote a release
Section titled “Cut and promote a release”git fetch origin --tagsgit checkout "$(chant ci last-green)"chant release cut v1.4.0 --build "npm run build" --yeschant run --components all --env dev --release v1.4.0chant components promote --to staging --release v1.4.0Without --yes the cut is a dry run. It refuses a commit with no ci/green tag. CI publishes the release through the pipeline chant release workflow writes.
A promote moves the release to the next environment in environments. At a gate it exits 3. Approve it and run the same promote again. Promote a release.
chant ci init --workflow trunk-curated sets a workspace up for this.
Apply on merge
Section titled “Apply on merge”Add --apply-on-merge to the chant build line that generated the pipeline. The workspace must declare ci.green. Every green commit then deploys, and the release gate does not see it. Apply on merge, and move off it.
